Modular Spill Containment System and Method

1. A battery spill containment system comprising: a plurality of containment rails; a coupler adapted to couple the rails to one another; a flexible liner defining a containment perimeter; a material on the liner adapted to absorb and chemically neutralize the spilled substance, wherein at least one of the containment rails can be removed to access a battery without damaging the containment perimeter

52. A method for containing a spilled substance from a battery, comprising the steps of: coupling a plurality of containment rails to define a perimeter; placing a flexible liner in the perimeter to define a containment perimeter; placing a material capable of absorbing and neutralizing the spilled substance in the containment perimeter, wherein the at least one containment rails is adapted to be removed without damaging the containment perimeter

70. A modular battery spill containment system comprising: a plurality of pans, each having a base and a plurality of vertical walls; a coupler adapted to couple one of the pans to another one of the pans; and a material adapted to be placed in the pans and adapted to absorb and chemically neutralize a spilled substance

101. A battery spill containment system comprising:
a plurality of containment rails;
a mount adapted to couple the rails to one another;
a flexible liner defining a containment perimeter;
a material on the liner adapted to absorb and chemically neutralize the spilled substance, wherein the mount permits at least one of the containment rails to be removed to access a battery without damaging the containment perimeter

A battery spill containment system comprising: a containment rail system to define a perimeter; a flexible liner for placement within the perimeter and having a base and an edge rising at least about four inches above the base; a material for placement within the perimeter to absorb and chemically neutralize a spilled substance from an industrial battery, wherein the containment rail system is mounted to the floor without using an adhesive whereby battery lifting equipment can be used to access the battery

17. A battery spill containment system comprising: a plurality of containment rails to define a perimeter; a flexible liner for placement within the perimeter and having a base and an edge rising at least about four inches above the base; a material for placement within the perimeter to absorb and chemically neutralize a spilled substance from an industrial battery, wherein the containment rails are mounted to the floor without using an adhesive whereby battery lifting equipment can be used to access the battery

40. A battery spill containment system comprising: a plurality of containment rails connectable to one another to define a perimeter;
a flexible liner for placement within the perimeter and having a base and an edge rising at least about four inches above the base, the flexible liner having a perimeter substantially conforming to the perimeter defined by the containment rails; a material for placement within the perimeter to absorb and chemically neutralize a spilled substance from an industrial battery, wherein the containment rails are mounted to the floor without using an adhesive whereby battery lifting equipment can be used to access the battery

51. A battery spill containment system comprising: a plurality of containment rails adapted to connect to one another to define a perimeter; a flexible liner adapted to substantially conform to and sit within the perimeter defined by the connected containment rails and having a base and an edge rising at least about four inches above the base; a material for placement within the perimeter to absorb and chemically neutralize a spilled substance from an industrial battery, wherein the containment rails are mounted to the floor without using an adhesive whereby battery lifting equipment can be used to access the battery
